Quarry Museum's Stone Yard At Lyons Turning Mill
The stone yard at the Quarry Museum and Lyons Turning Mill is used for demonstrating the working of granite including stone splitting with feathers and wedges and the finishing of granite. Granite blocks are predrilled to allow visitors a hands-on experience by placing the feather and wedges in the granite block and hammering to split the block. The stone yard area is also used for the Museum geology presentations. Also there are many types of different granites on display in the stone yard.
